Jamgrass (noun) - Type of music played with traditional bluegrass instruments that incorporates various styles. Characterized by instrumental jams, eclectic song selection and vocal harmonies.

Honeywood is a five-piece acoustic-electric jamgrass group from Atlanta that plays a mix of original songs, choice covers and classic tunes inspired by traditional bluegrass, newgrass, acoustic Dead, cajun, blues, folk and jam styles. Formed in November 2014, the band creates a unique sound with guitar, fiddle, mandolin, bass and percussion with plenty of hot pickin', jamming and singing.

With Honeywood, you'll hear original songs and music from (and inspired by) the likes of: Doc Watson, John Hartford, Jerry Garcia & David Grisman, Hot Rize, String Cheese Incident, Leftover Salmon, Grateful Dead, Tony Rice, Yonder Mountain String Band, Old and In The Way, New Grass Revival and more!

As a five-piece acoustic-electric band*. Honeywood is volume appropriate but brings the excitement of a full band to your venue or party. Suitable for many venues and events: music clubs (rock, folk, jazz rooms), bars, restaurants, breweries, neighborhood & community events, private parties & BBQs, festivals, weddings, corporate events.

Atlanta's Homegrown Jamgrass Band

HONEYWOOD IS:

Jason Koornick (mandolin, banjo, vocals) - A veteran player of the Atlantic bluegrass scene since the mid-90s. Founding member of Smokin' Grass Bluegrass Band from Burlington, VT. Currently operates music education company, Opus One Music.

Jacques Dolan (fiddle) - Honeywood's "Secret Weapon," Jacques is one of Atlanta's top fiddlers, you can't help but smile when he puts bow to strings.


Russell "RB" Brown (guitar, vocals) - Guitarist and singer for Atlanta's Flying Oatsmen and a fine picker and singer, RB brings the Jerry-ness to Honeywood.

Scott Balun (bass) - Scott brings the low end to Honeywood. He is an experienced bass player who takes the music to new heights, also with Flying Oatsmen.

Zach Harmison (drums, percussion) - A highly skilled drummer with years of experience performing rock, funk and folk.
